KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 — A post-mortem has failed to establish the cause of death of a 14-year-old boy whose death is being investigated following allegations of bullying at a school hostel in Kuala Pilah, with police awaiting the results of further tests.
Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the examination was carried out at the Forensic Medicine Department of Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban from 10.30am today, Harian Metro reported.
“The post-mortem, conducted by HTJ forensic pathologist Dr Akma Nurain Fairuz Mahamad Arif, was completed at 3pm today.
“The results of the post-mortem showed that the cause of death could not be determined at this time, and we are still awaiting the results of further tests,” Alzafny was quoted as saying.
He said police had so far recorded statements from 21 people, including students, teachers and the boy’s parents, as part of the investigation.
The student was found unconscious at the school hostel last night and was taken to Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital in Kuala Pilah, where he was pronounced dead.
Police subsequently detained a 16-year-old student to assist in the investigation and opened an investigation paper under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
The teenager was today remanded for six days, until October 1, to assist police with the investigation.
The Education Ministry has also ordered an immediate audit of the school following the boy’s death and said it would cooperate fully with police.
