KLUANG, Sept 16 — A policeman on a routine crime prevention round was injured after falling from his motorcycle during a high-speed chase in Kluang town in the pre-dawn hours today.
Kluang deputy police chief Superintendent Nik Mohd Azmi Husin said the incident is believed to have occurred at 5.54am when two policemen on motorcycles were chasing a Mitsubishi vehicle.
He said the suspect, believed to be involved in an earlier cable theft incident, had an uncut cable at the rear of the vehicle.
“Two policemen on motorcycles were despatched to investigate the incident and came across the suspect’s vehicle that fled the scene.
“During the pursuit, a policeman fell and sustained injuries,” he said in a statement today.
Nik Mohd Azmi was responding to a video posted on Threads showing two policemen chasing a red Mitsubishi pick-up truck in Kluang town.
He said police are actively tracking down the suspect and vehicle involved in the incident and urged those with any information to contact the nearest police station or the Kluang district police headquarters.
“The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft and also Section 353 of the same Code for use of criminal force against a public servant in discharging their duties,” he said.
