KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 16 — The National Registration Department (NRD) has unveiled the new-generation MyKad with a redesigned appearance and enhanced security features.

The new card incorporates several security elements on both its front and back, including a Dynamic Security Hologram and transparent window on the front.

The new MyKad will be available when applications open tomorrow, with Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail advising Malaysians not to rush to replace their existing cards to avoid congestion at NRD offices.

He said the new MyKad has about 50 additional security features, which will be introduced in phases.
