KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 — Shipping and aviation services company Hubline Bhd has confirmed that the helicopter involved in the accident at the Long Lellang Short Take-Off and Landing Airport (STOLport) in Sarawak on Tuesday was operated by its unit, Layang Layang Aerospace Sdn Bhd (LLA).
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Hubline said the helicopter, bearing registration number 9M-LLF, was conducting a flying doctor service (FDS) flight when the accident occurred.
“The helicopter was operating a FDS flight with five persons on board, including the pilot,” it said.
The company said LLA has activated its emergency response plan following the incident and is working closely with the relevant authorities, including the Air Accident Investigation Bureau under the Ministry of Transport, while providing all possible assistance.
Hubline also said its board is currently assessing the financial and operational impact of the accident on the group.
On Tuesday, a helicopter crashed near the Long Lellang STOLport in the interior of Marudi district in northern Sarawak at about 3.40pm, killing the pilot and four Ministry of Health personnel. — Bernama
