IPOH, Sept 1 — The upcoming Perak State Legislative Assembly sitting will see a motion tabled to elect a new senator, Speaker Datuk Seri Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid said.

He said two nominations had been received to fill the Senate seat left vacant following the end of Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa’s term.

“The two candidates are Perak PKR chairman Mohamad Hairul Amir Sabri, representing Pakatan Harapan, and Perak PAS Dewan Ulama chairman Ibrahim Zakaria,” he told a press conference at the Perak Darul Ridzuan Building here.

Mohammad Zahir said the motion would be tabled by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

He also said two Bills would be tabled during the sitting, namely the Administrative Members and State Assembly Members (Salary) Enactment 2026 and the Islamic Religious Administration (Perak) (Amendment) Enactment 2026.

“Both Bills will be tabled by the Menteri Besar,” he said.

The Second Meeting of the Fourth Term of the 15th Perak State Legislative Assembly will be held over three days from Sept 8 to 10.
