KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 — Two Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) officers are among the Malaysians who remain uncontactable following flash floods in Rasuwa, Nepal.
JBPM director-general Datuk Seri Nor Hisham Mohammad said they are its Planning and Research Division deputy director Mohd Sani Harul and Central Region Academy officer Mohd Fakhrul Munir Mohd Isa.
He said the two officers were part of a group of 10 Malaysians who left for Nepal on Monday night and were travelling to Everest Base Camp (EBC).
“One is a senior fire officer and the other is a fire officer. They were on their way to EBC. They were not climbing, but travelling by jeep along the Tibet route,” he told Bernama when contacted today.
He added that Mohd Fakhrul Munir was among those who took part in the ‘Bomba de Everest Mencari Hati Emas’ charity climbing expedition to Mount Everest in 2025.
Wisma Putra said in a statement today that families have been unable to contact more than 50 Malaysian travellers in Nepal following Wednesday’s devastating floods in which hundreds of foreigners and Nepalese remain unaccounted for. — Bernama
