KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 — His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has urged Wisma Putra to take all necessary measures to assist Malaysians affected by the floods in Rasuwa, Nepal.
According to a post on the Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar Facebook page today, His Majesty directed that the latest information on their safety and whereabouts be provided to their respective family members.
“I have been following developments surrounding this tragedy since it was reported yesterday.
“I also urge Wisma Putra to take all necessary measures, including providing their family members with the latest information on the safety and whereabouts of the Malaysians involved,” he said.
His Majesty also prayed that all efforts to rescue and evacuate the affected Malaysians would proceed smoothly.
According to the post, Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, expressed their concern and prayed for the safety of the Malaysians affected by the disaster.
“Their Majesties pray for the safety of all the victims and that they will be granted ease in dealing with the situation,” it said.
Wisma Putra said in a statement today that families have been unable to contact more than 50 Malaysian travellers in Nepal following Wednesday’s devastating floods in which hundreds of foreigners and Nepalese remain unaccounted for. — Bernama
