KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 — Former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Datuk Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, who is currently serving a prison sentence at Sungai Buloh Prison, will undergo a heart-related procedure at Serdang Hospital on Thursday morning.
A family member of the former Felda chairman appealed for public prayers via WhatsApp for the procedure to go smoothly.
“The family humbly asks all friends and those who know him to pray that the procedure goes smoothly and that everything is made easier.
“May Allah grant him recovery, strength and good health,” the family member said.
The family also expressed its appreciation to the Malaysian Prisons Department as well as the doctors, nurses and staff at Serdang Hospital for the attention, care and treatment provided.
“Thank you for all your prayers and concern,” the family member said.
Mohd Isa is currently serving a six-year prison sentence over nine corruption charges involving RM3.09 million in bribes linked to the purchase of Merdeka Palace Hotel & Suites (MPHS) in Kuching, Sarawak, 12 years ago.
In 2018, Mohd Isa was charged with nine counts of accepting bribes for himself through his former special officer Muhammad Zahid Md Arip from former board member of Gegasan Abadi Properties Sdn Bhd (GAPSB), Ikhwan Zaidel.
The payments were allegedly made as an inducement for helping to approve the RM160 million purchase of MPHS in Kuching by Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FICSB).
