KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 — PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) expects an increase in traffic flow of up to 2.2 million vehicles on its highways during peak days from August 28 to 31 and September 4 to 7 in conjunction with the National Day celebrations and school holidays.
In this regard, PLUS advises users to plan their journeys earlier by referring to the MyPLUS-TTA (Travel Time Advisory) digital travel schedule through the PLUS App to help distribute traffic and reduce vehicle concentration during peak hours.
“Adherence to this schedule can help distribute traffic and reduce vehicle concentration at specific locations during peak hours.
“The PLUS application can also be used to obtain real-time traffic information, emergency assistance (SOS), incident information, estimated toll rates, locations of rest and service areas (R&R), electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, as well as other highway service information to facilitate planning before and during the journey,” according to PLUS in a statement today.
Meanwhile, PLUS said that they are enhancing preparations by increasing personnel at toll plazas and rest areas, improving PLUSRonda patrols, and continuously assisting with traffic conditions through the Traffic Monitoring Centre.
PLUS will also activate the Smart Lane at 33 selected locations to help with smooth traffic in areas identified as having the potential for congestion.
Users are advised to be attentive to the Smart Lane signs and reduce vehicle speed when using that lane, as well as not to use the emergency lane outside the Smart Lane activation locations to avoid legal action.
PLUS will also collaborate with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Road Transport Department (JPJ), the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), and related agencies to ensure that any incidents on the highway can be addressed promptly.
To address the increase in the number of users, the maintenance of public facilities at R&R areas and stops has also been enhanced, prioritising cleanliness and comfort, including prayer rooms and toilets.
PLUS also advises highway users to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before the journey, in addition to ensuring that the balance on their Touch ‘n Go card or e-wallet is always sufficient and that the payment card link on the JustGO app remains active.
“Users are also reminded to adhere to speed limits, maintain a safe driving distance, practice cautious driving, and avoid using mobile phones while driving, as well as to rest at R&R areas to prevent fatigue before continuing their journey,” said PLUS.
