KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 — The Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at the Serian district police headquarters (IPD) in Sarawak fell to 190 as of 9 am today from 227 yesterday afternoon, moving from the very unhealthy to unhealthy level.

According to data from the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, 10 other areas in the state also recorded unhealthy air quality, namely Kuching (182), Samarahan (177), Sarikei and Sri Aman (173), Sibu (161), Bintulu (157), Samalaju and Mukah (156), as well as Miri and Bukit Rambai in Melaka, both at 151.

Meanwhile, 57 areas nationwide recorded API readings at the moderate level.

An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and readings above 300 hazardous.

API data is released hourly based on readings recorded at 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide. — Bernama
