KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 — DAP national chairman Gobind Singh Deo today urged the police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to clarify the status of investigations into alleged “corporate mafia” operations, including whether businessman Victor Chin has been called in to assist the probe.

Gobind, who is also digital minister, said the Cabinet had directed a thorough investigation into the matter in March, giving authorities sufficient time to examine the allegations.

He said the issue was of significant public interest and had international implications that could affect market confidence, making it a matter of national importance requiring swift action.

“Details have surfaced over how several individuals have allegedly masterminded operations within this scheme,” he said in a statement today.

“It is therefore important to state what action has been taken thus far, and what will happen next in the matter,” he said.

Gobind said Malaysians had a right to know the current status of the investigations and the concrete steps authorities planned to take.

He also urged Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail and MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abdul Halim Aman  to state whether key individuals who could assist the investigations, including Victor Chin, had been called in to provide information.

“I call upon the IGP and the MACC chief to state whether key figures who may be able to help in the probe, such as Victor Chin, have been called in to assist the investigations,” he said.

Gobind urged both agencies to state their positions without delay and outline how and when they intended to conclude the investigations.
