KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — The Ministry of Human Resources (Kesuma) has expressed full support for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) investigation into alleged irregularities involving claims under the Daya Kerjaya 2.0 Programme.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan, said the ministry remained committed to ensuring all government assistance programmes are administered with the highest standards of integrity, accountability and good governance.

He said the suspected irregularities were first detected through the Social Security Organisation’s (Perkeso) internal monitoring and anti-fraud mechanisms.

“Through its Anti-Fraud, Ethics and Integrity (AFEI) Division, Perkeso identified suspicious patterns and potential irregularities during internal data analysis conducted in late 2024,” he said in a statement today.

Ramanan said AFEI subsequently carried out intelligence gathering, surveillance and investigations throughout 2025 to verify the findings, gather evidence and establish the modus operandi behind the suspected abuse.

He said the findings were presented to the Perkeso Group Chief Executive Officer, who directed that the matter be referred to MACC for further action.

Following the directive, Perkeso formally handed over the case to MACC Perak in August 2025 and later worked closely with the commission through a joint investigation process, providing all relevant documents and evidence.

“As the case expanded, it was subsequently escalated to MACC Headquarters in Putrajaya,” he said.

Ramanan said the case demonstrated that Perkeso’s governance, compliance and anti-fraud mechanisms were functioning effectively, as the suspected abuse was detected through its own internal controls before being referred to the authorities.

He also commended AFEI officers for their professionalism, diligence and dedication in detecting, investigating and reporting the suspected misconduct.

The minister said the Daya Kerjaya 2.0 Programme was introduced to create employment opportunities and support vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities, former prisoners, senior citizens and job seekers seeking to re-enter the workforce.

He stressed that any misuse of public funds or fraudulent claims would not be tolerated, adding that Kesuma and Perkeso would continue strengthening governance, verification and monitoring mechanisms while working closely with MACC and other enforcement agencies to safeguard public funds and ensure government assistance reaches its intended beneficiaries. — Bernama
