RANAU, June 2 — Eight people were injured, three seriously, after an overloaded Perodua Bezza skidded off the road in Kampung Kinaratuan on Monday night.

Ranau Fire and Rescue chief Rantey Fred said five victims were trapped and extricated by firefighters, while three others escaped before rescuers arrived.

“The team found the vehicle had veered off the roadside. Three occupants suffered severe injuries while five, including children, had minor injuries,” he said.

All victims received initial treatment at the scene before being handed over to Health Ministry personnel and taken to hospital. 

The operation ended at 10.05pm, and the cause of the accident is under investigation. — Daily Express
