BENTONG, May 31 — A 55-year-old bus driver with a history of 29 traffic offences was detained after he allegedly drove recklessly and caused a three-vehicle crash at KM16 on Jalan Genting Highlands yesterday.
The accident occurred at 5.09pm when the driver's tour bus lost control at a bend, crashing into a Perodua Aruz before ramming a second tour bus, several local news outlets reported.
The impact caused the second bus to overturn on the left shoulder while the first skidded to the right side of the road.
Harian Metro cited Bentong District Police Chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar as saying the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
The first tour bus driver's urine test came back negative.
“Checks also found that the bus driver concerned had 29 traffic summonses for various offences,” he was quoted as saying.
Six people sustained minor injuries: three Bangladeshi nationals, two Nepalis and one Malaysian who was in the Perodua Aruz.
All were taken to Selayang Hospital and Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment.
