SIK, Aug 7 — Those casting their votes, especially Perikatan Nasional (PN) supporters, in the upcoming state elections should not allow ‘stupid things’ promised to them, to cloud their judgment, only to later suffer the next five years, caretaker Kedah menteri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said today.

Sanusi, who is seeking re-election as Jeneri assemblyman for a second term, acknowledged “last-minute attacks” will be attempted in the hopes of influencing voters.

“This evening I wish to implore everyone to strengthen your resolve and remain steadfast with PN.

“Do not be overwhelmed by stupid things that will be offered to win our hearts but would later suffer for it the next five years,” he said in his speech at a friendly football match held at Felda Teloi Timur, Kuala Ketil here.

He said the people are free to vote for their respective parties based on their trust towards those who have rendered their best performance for Kedah.

“The campaign period is not the time to poison one’s thinking, what more to incite doubts, concerns, hate and accusing one another.

“The past three years, we had sufficient time to take important measures for the people’s welfare and state development which we hope will translate into another five years of rule (under PN),” he said.

Sanusi also criticised the empty promises of the ruling administration in Putrajaya, remarking that nothing has been achieved for the past eight months.

Earlier hundreds of people gathered at the Felda Teloi Timur football pitch to catch a glimpse of Sanusi participating in a friendly match with residents.

Prior to Sanusi’s arrival, PN’s Gurun candidate Baddrol Bakhtiar graced his presence by kicking off the football match before leaving for another event.
