JOHOR BARU, July 11 — Tunku Mahkota of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim held a meeting with Singapore Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong at The Treasury today as part of his official visit to the republic.

A post on the HRH Crown Prince of Johor official Facebook said Singapore was a strategic economic partner of Johor and there was potential for greater growth in the future.

“The discussion focused on the proposed Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone to be set up in Johor and the further strengthening of trade and investment ties between Singapore and Johor,” said the statement.

Tunku Ismail is making the official visit from yesterday until tomorrow at the invitation of Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.

Tunku Ismail also attended a hi-tea together with Singapore Minister of Culture, Community and Youth Edwin Tong at Shangri-La Hotel and witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Johor Football Association and Singapore Football Association.
