KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 — The “Jelajah Madani”, launched on July 4, is a platform for the Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional leadership to explain to the people the efforts and reforms that have been carried out by the Unity Government during its eight months in power.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy president Rafizi Ramli said the tour, themed Malaysia Madani, was also the best channel for the people to get accurate information from the leaders.

“Keadilan has started the Jelajah Madani at focal areas, starting in Sikamat, Negeri Sembilan on Tuesday. Despite the heavy rain, more than 1,000 people faithfully listened to my speech until the end of the programme.

“The programme was also followed by 5,000 online users through various social media platforms. This encouraging response is in line with people’s support when PKR started campaigning for the 15th general election. This indicates that the momentum of support will continue to grow ahead of the state elections,” he said in a statement today.

Rafizi, who is PKR election director, said the party would launch its election machineries and operations rooms from tomorrow in preparation for the state elections on August 12.

Rafizi said the launching ceremony would be held simultaneously, starting in Kelantan and Terengganu on July 7, Kedah and Penang (July 8) as well as Selangor and Negeri Sembilan (July 9).

“The event will start at 9am and is open to all walks of life. The highlight of the programme is the handing over of the election campaign materials by the Keadilan central leadership to the PKR election directors for the respective state assemblies.

Meanwhile, Rafizi said any PKR member who wants to be a candidate could submit a nomination form as per the method laid down by the Keadilan central leadership council.

For individual applications, he said those interested could fill in an online form at www.calonkeadilan.org from today (July 6) until July 10 at 5pm.

“For applications from organisations, the PKR leadership at all levels may nominate their chosen candidates to be considered by the Central Election Committee.

“Nominations from the branches, AMK Central Leadership Council or Women Council must be made officially and confirmed by meeting minutes signed by all members present.

“The minutes of the meeting must then be submitted to the candidates committee by 5pm on July 10,” he said.

On the selection process, Rafizi said PKR had set a fair and transparent procedure which would be conducted by the candidates committee under his chairmanship as the election director. The committee also includes all the vice-presidents of the PKR.

“The selection of candidates is the PKR president’s prerogative. Therefore, the candidates committee is responsible for vetting and shortlisting the top three candidates before the president makes the final decision,” he added. — Bernama
