Jakim is more than just for Islamic development under my administration, says PM Anwar

PUTRAJAYA, July 4 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today said the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) has a greater role to play in his administration than previous governments.

He said Jakim is more than capable of expanding its scope into other related fields such as discussing the economic narrative of Malaysia.

“Where’s Jakim in the Budget of previous governments and the 12th Malaysia Plan?

“Jakim is also capable of running education policies. This is important because the principles of good values and morality are key to running the government,” he said in his speech at the launch of the the book Adab Perbezaan Pendapat Dalam Islam at the Jakim Auditorium in Kompleks Islam Putrajaya here.
