KUALA LUMPUR, June 13 — Senator Datuk C. Sivarraajh was sacked from the central working committee (CWC) of the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) on Sunday.

The former MIC vice-president said that he was notified of his removal from the CWC by the party headquarters via a letter dated June 10.

“The letter, signed by MIC president Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran, cited the party’s gratitude for my service and contributions.

“Anyhow, I do understand that it is the president’s prerogative to appoint or remove anyone that he sees fit as a CWC member,” he said.

Sivarraajh also said that the letter did not state the reason for his removal from the CWC.

He added that this development will not stop him from carrying out his duties to the party and community.

“I will continue my focus on three important agendas, namely education, entrepreneurship, and empowerment for the betterment of the Indian community.

“The rest I leave it to the party members to decide,” he said.

Meanwhile, a source close to Sivaraajh said that they had only received the letter of removal via a WhatsApp message.

The letter obtained by Malay Mail from the source was addressed to Sivarraajh and carried the signature of the party president.

“I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to express my deepest appreciation for the valuable contributions you have rendered to the party during your tenure as a member of the Central Working Committee of the Congress which has hereby concluded on May 11, 2023.

“I take this opportunity to thank you for your cooperation and success in your future endeavours,” the letter stated.
