KOTA BARU, May 12 — Negotiations for seats for the upcoming elections in six states are going smoothly so far, PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

He said talks were at 90 per cent in several states and were expected to be completed with a little more time.

“Last week, we had a meeting attended by the parties’ main leaders and listened to all preparations and the status of seat distribution... during mid May, the central leadership will study the list (of candidates) and will return them to the state level, I am optimistic everything can be settled before the announcement of dissolution (of state assemblies).

“Whichever party (in the Unity Government) that has an incumbent in a certain constitutency, other parties will not contest there, the areas to contest will be in constituencies won by PAS or Bersatu,” he told reporters after attending the Madani Icons Roadshow programme at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan here today, along with Community Communications Department director-general Prof Datuk Mohammad Agus Yusoff, Yayasan Prihatin Nasional chief executive officer Datuk Aizuddin Ghazali and Madani Icon, celebrity entrepreneur Zoey Rahman.

The six states in which elections are due this year are Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang. — Bernama
