KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 — Datuk Mohammad Agus Yusoff has today slammed PAS for using hatred as a weapon to intimidate those who oppose the party.

The director-general of the Community Communication Department (J-Kom) under the Prime Minister’s Department gave the example of the Islamist party promising a place in heaven to its supporters and one in hell to its detractors.

“It saddens me when PAS uses hatred as a weapon to intimidate those who oppose it, while bribing its supporters with the promise of heaven, and threatening its opponents with the prospect of hell.

“I notice that its comments are full of emotion and hatred. If we were to point this out, we would be called anti-Islam, and supporters of liberalism and LGBT. This is the routine. If anyone disagrees, they take on the mantle of punishers,” he wrote on Facebook today.

He was responding to the criticisms of PAS supporters after he raised the issue of low water pressure, poorly maintained roads and garbage management in Kelantan in a Facebook post on Monday.

According to Mohammad Agus, the ridicule and insults he received reflected the level of fanaticism among PAS leaders and supporters.

He said such bigotry is dangerous and must be rejected, and therefore, its party leader cannot be appointed to lead this country.

“The party claims to be fighting for everyone in the name of Islam, when the reality is that every day it rails against DAP in the name of nationalism. It does not understand the reality of living in a pluralistic country.

On Wednesday, Mohammad Agus claimed that PAS politics has changed completely and now ignores the truth if raised by other parties.

According to him, if there is a difference of opinion that is contrary to its views, the other party will be “attacked” mercilessly.

Mohammad Agus had also urged young people to reject PAS.

“Young people should stay away from such parties.

“And most importantly, be agents of change. History proves that the power of young people lies in being the main contributors to the ups and downs of a civilisation,” he said.
