Kuala Lumpur, April 25 — A total of RM21.36 million in outstanding traffic fines were collected within three days of the long Aidilfitri weekend after police offered a special discount.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the special reduction to RM50 began from April 21 has been a success, Utusan Malaysia reported today.

“The total amount collected involves 409,673 outstanding summonses nationwide, which were recorded by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department of Bukit Aman for various traffic offences that have been successfully resolved,” he was quoted as saying.

The special offer will be available until May 21.

It was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last Tuesday, during an Aidilfitri related public address.

Payment for these summonses can be made online through the MyBayar Saman application, or physically at all traffic payment counters at state and district police headquarters on working days.

Payments can also be made at Maybank ATMs and Pos Malaysia branches.
