KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 — Internet provider TIME Fibre is scheduled to make an announcement next week, said Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

This came after Telekom Malaysia (TM) Unifi had first announced that its 30Mbps package is now priced at just RM69 per-month compared to RM89 previously after joining the Unity Package Fixed Internet Broadband which is part of the government's effort to make internet affordable.

"I understand that TIME will make an announcement, God willing, in this area, maybe next weekend. We wait for the announcement," he told reporters after attending Sumbangan Cahaya Ramadhan charity event at Kerinchi flats at Lembah Pantai here.

Previously, it was reported that the ministry announced the Unity Package Fixed Internet Broadband for B40 (bottom 40 percentile income group), veterans, people with disabilities (PwD), and senior citizens.

Local tech news portal SoyaCincau reported that the B40 broadband plan will be offered starting March 2023 and it will be tied to a 24-month contract.

Fahmi added that the RM69/month plan is 22 per cent more affordable than what’s available in the market which is typically offered for RM89/month.

This would translate to a savings of RM480 throughout the 24-month contract period.
