KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 — The Public Services Commission (PSC) today said it interviewed a total of 8,193 contract staff for 4,914 vacancies this year for permanent government positions as doctors, dentists and pharmacists.
The PSC said the interviews, which were held from March 1 to 22, were in line with the government’s intention to speed up the permanent appointment of Grade UD43 medical officers, Grade UG41 dental officers and Grade UF41 pharmacists for 2023.
The commission said it interviewees were from a larger pool of 9,152 who were invited to participate.
The PSC said it had on March 31 submitted the list of all 8,193 interviewees to the Health Ministry for a detailed check, in order to make sure that all those who were selected for the permanent jobs met requirements.
The requirements, among others, included that prospective appointees must have been hired on contract based on a 2016 ministry circular, completed their postgraduate training, never resigned or faced disciplinary action, or rejected previous offers for permanent placement.
“For the permanent appointments for the year 2023, a total of 4,914 candidates will be permanently appointed based on the existing vacancies.
“The remaining candidates who fulfil the Health Ministry’s specific requirements but are not offered permanent appointments during this time’s recruitment session will be made reserve candidates,” the PSC said.
The PSC said these reserve candidates would be appointed to permanent roles if vacancies emerge and provided they still met the requirements.
The PSC said the results of the interviews should be announced on April 17 via email as well as on its website and Facebook page.
The offer letters for the permanent appointments will be issued on May 2 through the MySTP appointment offer system, with successful applicants getting 14 days to confirm their acceptance and complete all necessary documentation.
