KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 — The Ministry of Health (MoH) is expected to table the Health White Paper at the next Parliament session, Deputy Health Minister Lukanisman Awang Sauni said today.

He said the ministry is in the final phase of preparing the Health White Paper that will look into, among other things, addressing the obstacles faced by the healthcare system, structured reforms and basic policies for the national health service in the next 15 years.

“The ministry together with the Health Minister (Dr Zaliha Mustafa) will hold an engagement session with (healthcare) officers to get their final feedback before the White Paper is tabled for the respective regions that we have visited such as Sabah, Sarawak, and the central, northern and southern parts of the peninsula,” Lukanisman told the Dewan Rakyat today during question time.

He was responding to DAP Senator Kesavadas A. Achyuthan Nair who asked about the status of the Health White Paper.

In January, Dr Zaliha said the ministry aimed to table the Health White Paper in Parliament in the middle of this year.

She had given her commitment to ensuring that the content of the document can be implemented and realised.

The health minister had also called on all MPs to support the Health White Paper when it is tabled in Parliament.
