KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 — A political secretary to the prime minister today said that a bar in Kuala Lumpur slated to host the ‘Thai Hot Guy’ event, featuring lingerie-clad waiters from a popular Bangkok restaurant, does not have the entertainment licence required to carry out such an activity.
Azman Abidin also said that the venue called Privacy Club, which is located off Jalan Tun Razak, had not applied for any entertainment licence or permission to organise entertainment activities.
“Based on preliminary investigations by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), we found that the premises was licensed as a restaurant to Beijing 9 Sdn Bhd.
“However, the company’s restaurant licence expired on February 4, 2021,” he said in a statement.
Azman said that an investigation was launched after his office received a report on the event which is expected to take place on March 30.
“After examining the ad on the bar’s Facebook page, we found that the entertainment event will feature a performance by male waiters from Thailand dressed as women, known as Thai Hot Guy, as the main attraction,” he said.
He also said that DBKL is in the process of reviewing the situation and will take enforcement action if the organisers are found to have violated any rules and conditions.
Yesterday, Sinar Harian reported PAS Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari as calling for the event organiser of ‘Thai Hot Guy’ to cancel the March 30 show.
Ahmad Fadhli said the event should not be held during Ramadan.
“Permission for such shows during the month of Ramadan should not be given,” he was quoted as saying.
