IPOH, March 15 — The Youth wing of Perak PKR wants the police to investigate Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, alleging that the Bersatu deputy president had slandered Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim by calling the latter a liar and a sodomite.

The state wing chief Zaim Sidqi Zulkifly told reporters that former Perak menteri besar Ahmad Faizal made the remark in his debate speech during Bersatu’s general assembly last Sunday.

“AMK urges the authorities to investigate this statement which aims to undermine the credibility of the prime minister and cause chaos,” Zaim said after filing a complaint against Ahmad Faizal at the Ipoh police headquarters here this morning.

AMK means Angkatan Muda Keadlian, the Malay abbreviation for the PKR Youth wing.

“AMK hopes that Malaysians would reject political parties that practice defamation politics and also use it as a powerful weapon.

“This is the quality of Ahmad Faizal who is devoid of ideas and only has malicious intent to cause problems and reap political gains,” Zaim added.

He also showed reporters a 32-second video clip taken by news portal Malaysiakini that depicted someone resembling Ahmad Faizal making remarks about Anwar, who is also PKR president.

“We are ashamed because our leader who won the Tambun seat, who is supposedly a clean, pious, great and good, has been playing politics after getting into power.

“Saying one thing previously, another thing today and something else tomorrow. He is not just a liar but was also said to be a sodomite,” the man resembling Ahmad Faizal was heard saying in Malay in the video clip.

When contacted for his response, Ahmad Faizal played down the matter and did not confirm anything.

“Leave it”, he said in a text message when asked to comment.
