KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 — The two daughters of incumbent Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his predecessor Datuk Seri Najib Razak were among candidates who secured enough votes to sit in the party wings for the next term, a Malay newspaper reported today.

Berita Harian reported that Najib’s daughter with Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Nooryana Najwa, with her 100 votes, was among the top three candidates for the Puteri Umno executive committee (exco) in terms of number of votes while his son with first wife Tengku Puteri Zainah Tengku Eskandar, Mohd Naziffuddin, only managed to garner three votes as of 11.40pm last night.

Two other candidates, Nurul Syifa Ridzwan Goh and Nik Zakirah Farhanis Zakimi Na Rahin, reportedly had 103 votes for the contest for a spot in Puteri Umno’s exco, as of the time of the report. There were 42 contenders for the 20-seat Puteri Umno exco.

Najib’s son Mohd Naziffuddin was one of four contenders for the Umno Youth vice-president post.

According to Berita Harian infographics, the Umno Youth vice-president post appears to have been won by Mohd Hairi Mad Shah.

Berita Harian also reported that Zahid’s daughter Datuk Nurulhidayah was among the top five candidates in terms of votes for the Umno Wanita exco election as of 11.40pm last night.

In the contest for one of the 20 seats in the Umno Wanita exco, Nurulhidayah had the second highest number of votes at 53, while the highest number of votes was obtained by Nasriah Ngasri with 60 votes, at the time of Berita Harian’s report.

There were 61 contenders for the 20-seat Wanita Umno exco.
