KUALA LUMPUR, March 1 — Bukit Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan said people's dissatisfaction with the federal government's performance will affect support for Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) in the upcoming state polls.
He said the people will want to give Perikatan Nasional (PN) a chance to prove itself in the six states that will be holding state elections soon.
“In terms of performance, according to studies conducted including those done by Sinar Harian, the government's performance today is less than satisfactory,” he was quoted as saying in a Sinar Live programme titled “Wan Saiful, Apa Cerita?” yesterday.
He claimed that the people have little faith in the abilities of the current administration in governing the country, especially with the challenging economic situation the country is facing.
“This will affect PH and BN's performance in the state elections,” he said.
The former Bersatu information chief also said it is hard to imagine DAP supporters voting for Umno and Umno supporters voting for DAP even though the two parties are expected to cooperate in the upcoming state polls.
“This is the first time I do not know how DAP supporters will vote for Umno and Umno supporters will vote for DAP,” he said.
He said Amanah and PKR supporters will also be campaigning for Umno, MCA and MIC.
“This will be historic so we will see how it goes,” he said.
He hoped that those who had supported PH and BN will be dissatisfied with what is happening now and give PN a chance to show what it can do to help the states that will be holding state elections soon.
