KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 — Pandemonium broke in the Dewan Rakyat today after DAP veteran MP Lim Guan Eng criticised Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor for questioning Penang’s sovereignty.

A few Perikatan Nasional (PN) lawmakers joined the shouting match, including Pendang MP Datuk Awang Hashim, Sik MP Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman and Kubang Pasu MP Datuk Dr Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail questioning Lim’s remark on Penang’s sovereignty.

“Now we are talking discussing the legality of the Federal Constitution, why are we denying a state’s sovereignty?” the Bagan MP animatedly said while holding the Federal Constitution, referring to Penang.

PN lawmakers then continued to interrupt Lim’s speech trying to elaborate on what Muhammad Sanusi said in a video that went viral on a social media platform last month.

Lim also challenged Sanusi to sue him if he felt misrepresented, but insisted that the latter's remark was on public record.

“I have a video clip that shows Kedah MB stated that ‘Penang’s sovereignty is doubtful’, You can’t run from this black and white. It was recorded in a video. I have openly stated this before if he said that I was not telling the truth, please sue me,” Lim said,

Previously, it was reported that Bukit Jelutong MP RSN Rayer lodged a police report over the Kedah MB statement on Penang sovereignty and said that the state “was leased from Kedah”.

The Kedah MB then defended his statement and said that the DAP MP was “blind to history”.
