KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 22 — Former minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Mohd Zaid Ibrahim said he wants to contest the Supreme Council seat at the Umno party polls.
In his Twitter he wrote that he will be submitting his nomination at the Umno headquarters tomorrow.
“Tomorrow I submit my application form to contest for Umno Supreme Council seat,” the tweet read.

Zaid who hailed from Kota Bahru, Kelantan has joined several political parties in his career. He also owns a law firm.
He first joined Umno in 2000 and won the Kota Bahru parliamentary seat in 2004. He was not chosen as a candidate for the following general elections in 2008 but was made the de-facto law minister.
Former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, as then Umno president, sacked Zaid in December 2008 for attending Opposition events.
Zaid attended the PKR congress held in November 2008 before he joined the party and made to contest in the Hulu Selangor by-election which he lost to Barisan Nasional.
He quit PKR in 2010 after failing his bid to win the deputy president post before forminghis own party called parti KITA which failed to take off.
Following that, he joined DAP from 2017 to 2020 and was made the Kelantan DAP chairman.
He then suddenly appear during the final appeal at Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s case replacing Tan Sri Shafee Abdullah and subsequently attended Umno event to galvanise support for Najib against the former prime minister’s graft conviction.
