KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 15 — Former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar started his stint as a temporary co-host for radio channel Hot FM today, saying it is one of a way to make the public not forget him.

Khairy, who is known as KJ, said that this allowed him and the community to continue to discuss issues and “joke” about them every morning after his dismissal from Umno and losing the general election last November.

“I still have political ambitions, I don’t want people to forget me,” he said while laughing with his co-host Johan and AG.

The trio handled the four-hour breakfast talk show Bekpes Hot which starts at 6am daily, starting his session by saying: “KJ DJ reporting to duty” [sic].

Khairy also joked that he accepted the “big money” job from Hot FM to supplement his income, saying he would only be eligible for a government pension in three more years.

“I do not have an income so I asked about my pension. But I was told I would get it when I turn 50. But I am 47 now which means I will not have any income for [the next] three years.

“That is why I joined Hot FM,” joked Khairy.

However, Khairy revealed that the gig might not be long-term, suggesting he would soon take on a management role with Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club (JDT).

“God willing, soon I will announce my involvement with JDT,” he said, triggering a tirade of back and forth from his co-hosts who “begged” him to stay.

“I can still be a DJ here, using Zoom,” said KJ.

Johor Crown Price Tunku Ismail Ibrahim previously hinted at the possibility of offering the posts of JDT FC chief executive officer and Johor Youth Adviser after Khairy was sacked from Umno two weeks ago.

It was also understood that Khairy is merely replacing the third co-host of the popular Malay rush hour show, Fara Fauzana, who is currently performing the Muslim minor pilgrimage of umrah.
