KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 — MCA will hold its internal election only after the six states complete theirs, party secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon said.

He indicated that MCA’s national election is likely to take place in September, The Star reported today.

“We will wait until the six state elections are over before confirming the date for the party election,” he was quoted as saying.

The six states are Kedah, Penang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

He added that the party’s state-level polls for the Youth and Wanita Wings have been set for July and August, but will likely have to be adjusted as the elections for the six states are expected to happen between May and June.

Chong also announced that MCA’s 74th anniversary celebration will be held on March 4.
