KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 1 — Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has today indicated efforts for the state elections in all six states to be held between June and July.

Astro Awani reported the PAS elections director saying that holding them simultaneously would save logistical costs and voters’ time to travel back to their hometowns, and hoped that Pakatan Harapan (PH) states would follow suit.

“I did not follow [the date set by the states led by] PH but we hope that PH will follow us,” he said as reported by Awani, adding that informal discussions have been held between the state governments.

He pointed out how Negeri Sembilan’s state assembly will automatically be dissolved on June 1, and therefore it would be prudent for state elections to be held within two months of that date if they were to run concurrently.

The six states involved are three states led by Pakatan Harapan (PH) ― Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Penang and three states administered by PAS, namely Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah.

On Sunday, PAS vice-president and Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar was reported saying he would be discussing the state election dates with the three states administered by PH.
