KOTA KINABALU, Nov 24 — Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (PKDM) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) are the latest parties to announce their support for a unity government at the national level.

Their stance means all parties in Sabah with elected MPs are principally in support of the federal government, to be headed by Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

PKDM president Datuk Peter Anthony said that it was important for the federal government to be a stable force in order to serve the country.

“Because of that, KDM’s supreme council has unanimously decided to support the King’s decision for a unity government to be formed.

“We also feel that any unity government should be exclusive and involve the state governments of Sabah and Sarawak in order to move forward,” he said.

PBS, a component of the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, also echoed its support for the formation of a unity government for political stability in the country.

“The nation needs a government fast, and we, in PBS, abide by the decision made by the King, GRS and PN to ensure a harmonious, just and stable administration,” said its president Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili.

Earlier today, GRS chairman Datuk Hajiji Noor said that they would now support the unity government after having put its weight on Perikatan Nasional earlier this week.

Both BN and PN also agreed to it today. Warisan had given its support earlier in the week as well.

Sabah’s 25 parliamentary were won by BN (seven), GRS (six), PH (five), Warisan (three), PKDM and PN have one each and two others are independents.
