KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11 — PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang today reportedly joined in on the battering of PKR over its requirement that all its candidates to declare their assets ahead of the 15th general election, calling the move “a farce”.

Malaysiakini today quoted Abdul Hadi as saying that politicians should instead be focused on showing the public that they are “good people”.

“Asset declaration is sometimes a form of stupidity. They want to show off,” he reportedly said during a public lecture in Marang, Terengganu.

This came after PKR candidates, including its president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his deputy Rafizi Ramli, started declaring their assets ahead of the November 19 polls.

Aside from the PKR members, several of their allies such as Muda president Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) election candidate Bawani KS also declared their assets.

DAP, however, has announced that it won’t be following suit.

Yesterday, Perikatan Nasional (PN) election director Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said that PKR’s asset declarations were “all theatrics”.
