SERI KEMBANGAN, Nov 7 — DAP deputy chairman Gobind Singh Deo said his party will take disciplinary action against any of its members convicted in graft trials, including DAP national chairman Lim Guan Eng and ally Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman.

“So far there’s been no conviction. In the case of Lim Guan Eng and Syed Saddiq are still going on, so those are cases that are still in court.

“If there is conviction and if the conviction is final, then certain decision will have to be made,” said Gobind at the sidelines of a Pakatan Harapan (PH) mega rally in Taman Equine here.

Malay Mail had asked if the graft trials of Opposition leaders will taint DAP’s long-held anti-corruption image.

Lim was charged with receiving a bribe for the Undersea Tunnel Project involving RM6.3 billion during his term as Penang’s chief minister, and Muda President Syed Saddiq was ordered to enter defence for misappropriating RM1 million during his time as Bersatu’s Youth Chief.

Gobind is the lawyer for both of them.

Last night’s rally was held near two Chinese food courts in Taman Equine, with a makeshift stage made of a modified van with a digital screen at the back.

The crowd was smaller at the start of the event but became bigger and more responsive with the arrival of much prominent leaders such as Tony Pua, DAP’s candidate for Puchong Yeo Bee Yin, and at last Gobind Singh, the incumbent Puchong MP.

When his arrival was announced, the crowd became visibly excited as they applauded and cheered for him and the friendly Gobind Singh shook hands and greeted supporters before entering the stage.

Gobind Singh, who is making way for Yeo Bee Yin to contest in Puchong, started exhorting the crowd to come out to vote on the polling day so that PH can gain back what they had lost due to the “Sheraton Move”.

“We have done Undi18...And we have done a lot in 22 months compared to Barisan Nasional (BN)... and we don’t swing here and there, like other parties,”

“So in the coming general election, we people from Puchong need to catch the frogs, am I right?” said Gobind Singh, referring to party hoppers. The crowd responded with a loud “Yes!”.

He then further added that the country will end up having Umno’s president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as prime minister should BN win the elections due to a potential power grab within the ruling coalition.

“We are in the raining season now, and if caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri is really the poster boy, we won’t be holding the election during a rainy season,” he chided.

The DAP deputy chairman then urged the voters to vote for their prime minister candidate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“Let’s vote for someone who can work for the next year, ok?” said Gobind Singh and the crowd responded with a loud “ok”.

The event ended around 11pm, and the crowd immediately swarmed forward to the stage to have photos with him and Yeo Bee Yin.

Also present here last night was incumbent Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh, ADUN Siti Mariah Mahmud, and DAP’s candidate for Bangi Syahredzan Johan.
