SERI KEMBANGAN, Nov 7 — Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) candidate for Puchong Yeo Bee Yin pointed to her track record following accusations of conflicts of interest in her candidacy there.

“If there’s one thing I’m proud of is my track record, it is that I’m clean of corruption and criminal breach of trust charges.

“I’m an open book that you can check anytime,” said Yeo in a PH mega rally in Taman Equine last night.

Yeo, the former minister of energy, science, technology, environment, and climate change, then said that her wish as a politician is to improve the country, not put money into her or her or her family members' pockets.

She added that the last time she got entangled in a corruption allegation was due to Umno politician Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos claiming she has misused Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor funds.

“He said that I misused the fund, and I brought the whole account to Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission to let them check.

“And during the press conference, he didn’t come,” said Yeo and the crowd responded with some laughter.

Jamal later made a public apology to Yeo after she sued him for defamation.

When asked by Malay Mail, the incumbent Bakri MP said that she will let the voters decide if the report will affect her reputation.

“I don’t want to assume the intention of anyone and I don’t want to dwell on this. Just look back at the past record that I have never taken any money or been involved with any criminal breach of trust.

“And I will continue to do the same,” said Yeo when asked if she thinks there’s any ill-will behind the Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism’s (C4) report earlier today.

The watchdog group claimed that Yeo’s candidacy in Puchong raised questions of possible conflict of interest as she is married to IOI Properties Group Bhd CEO Lee Yeow Seng, who has business interests in the Puchong district.

DAP man Ng Sze Han, however, clarified by saying that the properties belonging to IOI Properties Group Bhd are located in Sepang and Subang, and not Puchong.

Ng clarified that most of the properties are actually located in the Kinrara state constituency placed under the Subang federal seat — of which he is the state assemblyman.

Yeo is taking the place of DAP Selangor chief Gobind Singh Deo, who is the incumbent three-term MP for Puchong, as he is vacating the seat to seek re-election at the Damansara seat.
