KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — Not only are differing opinions within a party important for growth, but they are also crucial to avoiding a party filled with yes-men, PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said.

According to Free Malaysia Today, Rafizi said a government that is not open-minded will only end up like former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s tainted administration that had “a bunch of yes men.”

He claimed that as a result, “Najib stole billions of ringgit” and no one in his government dared to say anything.

He said that was the reason why only skilled individuals who aren’t afraid to question things are chosen as PKR candidates.

“This is the best way to ensure that we don’t fall back into Najib’s old habits,” he added.

Rafizi then denied the rumours that PKR was crumbling just because of the apparent disagreements between him and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“People will say that we aren’t disciplined and that we can’t work together. But that’s not true,” he was quoted as saying.

Earlier, Rafizi was urged by party secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to stop talking about the election candidates’ selection process after the two had different views on the matter.
