KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 1 — PAS has reportedly made its final decision today to face the 15th general election (GE15) through the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.

The party has become aware of the fact that the country requires the best coalition due to research showing that no single party can establish a government on its own, PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man was reported as saying by Free Malaysia Today, while opening the 63rd PAS Youth's muktamar or annual congress.

“This does not mean that we are afraid of the election. I want to make it clear that PAS, through PN, is ready in all situations to face GE15.

“We are ready with a party that wants to talk and negotiate, and we are also ready to fight in all situations, if that is the (last) option,” he was quoted as saying by the online news portal.

He also reportedly said that PAS stands open to discussions with other parties outside of PN that are not regarded as extreme, apart from Pakatan Harapan (PH).

However, if discussions with other parties fall through, then PN is ready to face any situation during GE15, he reportedly added.

Besides that, he reportedly said PAS will nominate 30 per cent of youth leaders to contest in GE15.

PN is led by former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who confidently forecasted on the coalition’s second anniversary last Saturday the defeat of Barisan Nasional (BN), its current co-ruler in the federal government, no matter when GE15 is called.

PN consists of five parties: Bersatu, PAS, Gerakan and Sabah-based entities Parti Progresif Sabah and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku.
