KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 — PKR party election committee chairman Zaliha Mustafa said several candidates for the main leadership, including the post of deputy president, might not be able to contest for the PKR selection for the term 2022/2023, following objections filed by voters.

Zaliha said the committee received 50 non-official objections made via the ADIL application so far, Sinar Harian reported today.

She said the affected candidates have been informed about the objections.

“The objections include on ‘hot leadership post’ and also the deputy president post. However, we can’t reveal on what basis the objections were made as we need to wait until the official objections date,” she was quoted as saying.

She explained that the official objection date is from April 14 to 16, but eligible voters are allowed to make their objections early through the app.

“However, affected candidates can appeal as we will open the appeal period from April 17 to 19 before announcing the complete candidates list,” she was quoted as saying.

Zaliha said each objection filing costs RM50 and the complainant will be given a form to fill.

She disclosed that some of the objections against the candidates were due to their alleged involvement with criminal activities, purported membership in other parties, and supposed bankruptcy.

“We will review the objections and decide whether it is acceptable or not.

“If the objection is about bankruptcy, the candidate needs to send appeal and inform us if they have been released from the bankruptcy.

“The final list of candidates will be revealed on April 19 and the election will be carried out after Aidilfitri,” Zaliha was quoted saying.
