KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 — The Ministry of Health (MoH) recorded 7,097 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24-hours.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Selangor again recorded the highest number of cases with 3,119 while Kuala Lumpur had 1,005 cases, followed by Negri Sembilan (788). 

Yesterday, the country recorded 7,654 new Covid-19 cases. 

Melaka was the next highest with 358 cases, ahead of Sarawak (289), Pahang (258), Sabah (244), Johor (224), Kedah (187), Penang (140), Kelantan (123), Labuan (93), Terengganu (43), Putrajaya (26) and Perlis (two).

Dr Noor Hisham also revealed that the national infectivity rate (Rt) currently stands at 1.08, based on yesterday’s caseload.

Putrajaya has the highest Rt value at 1.25.

Other states and Federal Territories that recorded Rt above 1.0 are: Pahang (1.18), Kuala Lumpur (1.16), Selangor (1.12), Kedah (1.11), Melaka (1.08), Sabah (1.04), Penang (1.03) and Negri Sembilan (1.01).

Dr Noor Hisham said there were 18 new Covid-19 clusters, including nine within the general community, six from workplaces, two from high risk groups and one in an education centre.

He added that the clusters with the highest increase in new cases today are the Sejamtung cluster (96 cases), Lorong Tiga Kampung Siol Kandis cluster (69 cases) and Industri Lengkok Emas Nilai cluster (68 cases).
