SHAH ALAM, Nov 16 — Lembah Jaya assemblyman Haniza Mohamed Talha is officially the new PKR Women’s Chief for the 2018/2021 session.

The announcement was made moments ago by the PKR election committee (JPP).

Haniza will take over the role from Zuraida Kamaruddin, defeating Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh in the PKR election 2018 which started from September 22 and ended on November 10.

The JPP secretary Ismail Yusuff announced the new lineup at the PKR Women’s Wing Annual National Congress 2018 today, but no vote was revealed.

Meanwhile, Sementa assemblyman Dr Daroyah Alwi was nominated as deputy Women chief, defeating Batu Tiga assemblywoman Rodziah Ismail.

The three positions for Vice Women chief were won by Faizah Ariffin, Sangetha Jayakumar and Wasanthee Sinnasamy.

A total of 20 Women Leadership Council members were also announced for the term, including Catherine Jok Uvang, Ginie Lim Siew Lin, Hasmorni Tamby, Juwairiya Zulkifli and Kavitha Chandragesen.

Haniza, in a press conference after the announcement, said the new leadership of PKR Women will continue with the agenda of upholding justice for women.

“Our goal is to continue the foundation of PKR’s struggle in upholding justice, especially for women inside and outside the party.

“What happens during the election process is just a normal thing, (it’s) the process of democracy,” she said.

She added that the new leadership will continue to work by having a meeting with Women’s chiefs at the branch level throughout the country.

“I believe and am confident that this newly elected leader will succeed in fulfilling the party’s aspirations,” she said.
