KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 — Umno’s Datuk Lokman Noor Adam is unhappy he and 20 supporters of Datuk Seri Najib Razak were not allowed entry into the KL High Court, where the former prime minister faces three additional charges for money laundering.
“Saya nak masuk kencing pun tak boleh (I can’t even go in to urinate),” he told reporters outside the court compound.
Earlier, an officer told Malay Mail they had denied entry to the public due to the chaos when Najib was charged on July 4.
About 100 Najib supporters had chanted loudly, sung and argued with the police in the lobby and corridor of the court room then.
Only members of the media and people with court appointments were allowed to enter today but after stringent checks.
Najib’s supporters were allowed to gather outside the court entrance, including the car park area.
Lokman then accused the court authorities of holding double standards, claiming discrimination against Najib’s supporters compared to supporters of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the PKR leader’s former sodomy trial hearings.
“During Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s court cases, in those days, his supporters were allowed to chant and scream ‘Reformasi’. Why pick on us now?” he asked.
“Ask Anwar if he agrees with the treatment we received today,” Lokman added.
A reporter then asked if the court had barred access to the supporters this time due to the previous “rowdy” behaviour at the complex previously.
“I disagree with you using the word ‘rowdiness’,” Lokman replied.
Another man who only gave his name as David Goh chimed in and denied that Najib’s supporters were heckling Attorney General Tommy Thomas during the latter’s press conference on July 4 at the court complex, right after slapping the former prime minister with criminal and corruption charges.
“We were not harassing AG Tommy Thomas then. We were just fighting for our right to uphold the national language,” Goh said.
