IPOH, May 21 — The 10 new Perak state executive councillors clocked in at 8am today to officially begin their first day at work in the State Secretariat here.

The state officials were Abdul Aziz Bari (Tebing Tinggi), A. Sivanesan (Sungkai), Howard Lee Chuan How (Pasir Pinji), Wong May Ing (Pantai Remis) and Paul Yong Choo Kiong (Tronoh).

Also Asmuni Awi (Manjoi), Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin (Sungai Rapat), Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim (Titi Serong), Tan Kar Hing (Simpang Pulai) and Abdul Yunus Jamhari (Kuala Kurau).

They were welcomed by deputy state secretariat Datuk Abu Bakar Said and state assembly secretary Kamarulariffin Ayob.

They were also greeted by the state assembly council’s staff.

Later, the exco were also given a short briefing by Abu Bakar and Kamarulariffin before they were ushered to their respective offices in the first floor of the state secretariat building.

The portfolios of the excos are not yet known and a press conference is expected to be given on that matter by the Mentri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu later today.

In 2008, Nizar was the mentri besar and Sivanesan held the health, environmental and human resources portfolio.

However, their tenure only lasted 11 months as the defections caused them to lose control of the administration to Barisan Nasional.
