KOTA SAMARAHAN, April 15 — Twenty-first century education is focused on competitive thinking through higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) to prepare future generations for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
According to Nancy, progressive education was a critical factor in the effort towards achieving Vision 2020, while the 11th Malaysia Plan focused on education to build human capital and move towards becoming a developed nation.
In fact, she said, in the National Transformation (TN50) Youth Canvas, education was the second highest aspiration.
“In the TN50’s Youth Canvas, the youth want a relevant education system which meets the needs of the market,” she said at the launch of the Excellent Student Transformation programme held at the Tun Abang Salahuddin Islaminc Centre (PITAS), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak here today.
She added that the government had provided many allocations to enable students to improve themselves and she reminded students to always work hard and not give up.
On the Excellent Student Transformation Programme, Nancy said its objective was to help participants know themselves, while exposing them to effective study techniques. — Bernama
