KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 22 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today described his vision of Malaysia in 2050 as prosperous, ultra-modern and equitable.

He said this when asked through an anonymous question on how he would describe Malaysia in three words, in the year 2050 during a forum addressing the effects of the 2018 budget on Malaysian households earlier.

Meanwhile, Najib said that the launch of the Amanah Dana Anak Malaysia 2050(ADAM50) was an encouragement for more Malaysians to start saving for their children’s future.

“We want to encourage a mindset of save for the future, many don’t anticipate our children’s needs once they are ready for higher education, so when we start with the ADAM50 savings, we can slowly contribute according to our means” he said.

Najib added that he hoped the scheme would encourage the country’s birth rate to increase.

“Of course we hope this will encourage our birth rate not to go too low, once we become a mature economy, the birth rate will drop and it is already dropping in Malaysia,” he said.

“Those of child bearing age, continue to give birth because we need that size of population in Malaysia.”
