SINGAPORE, Feb 3 — A pre-mixed coffee sample in Penang which was found to have contained a type of drug had attracted Singapore authority’s attention  In its Facebook update, Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) said it has followed up with its counterparts in Malaysia to request for facts of the case.

“There are recent media reports about people in Malaysia feeling unwell after drinking “Durian White Coffee”,” it said.

Yesterday, Penang Timur Laut district police chief ACP Anuar Omar said an analysis of the coffee sample by the Penang Food Safety and Quality Laboratory found it contained a type of drug but had yet to ascertain its type.

It was reported that five individuals including two women were treated at the Penang Hospital after experiencing extreme fatigue and weakness while some also fainted after allegedly drinking the coffee last week. — Bernama
