BATU KURAU, Jan 26 — The rebranded Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M 2.2) has started operating nationwide and would be officially launched in Temerloh, Pahang on Feb 4.
Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said 50 KRIM 2.2 had been opened to date, including in Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor.
“I received information that the people responded favourably to the new KR1M.
“We will replace the shops’ old signboards with new ones after the launch next month,” he told reporters after presenting ‘Back to school’ aid at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Datuk Kamaruddin here, today.
He said KR1M 2.2’s concept was different from the original KR1M mini market concept in that the price of daily necessities was 30 per cent to 50 per cent lower than the market price.
Meanwhile, Hamzah said the ministry would be organising a ‘Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat’ programme with the cooperation of the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia, Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority, and supermarkets, at Dataran Selama near here tomorrow to enable the people to buy essential goods at a cheaper price. — Bernama
