KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 — Miss Malaysia World 2016/17 Tatiana Kumar Nandha has been stripped of her title, in an unprecedented move by Miss Malaysia World.

The organisation took to Instagram (@miss_world_malaysia) to announce the decision, citing breach of conduct and contract by the 18-year-old beauty.

First runner-up Shweta Sekhon, 19, was named the new Miss Malaysia World 2016/17.

The Star Online news portal reported that Tatiana was stripped of her crown for ‘offensive’ comments online, with Datuk Anna Lim, the ex-national director of Miss Malaysia World, alleging that Tatiana and her family had made offensive remarks on the Internet and social media regarding the organisation.

“There are certain formalities, and she has also breached one involving an important sponsor. This has led to the contract being terminated,” Lim told The Star Online when contacted.

Tatiana was crowned Miss Malaysia World 2016/17 in August last year before going on to represent the country in the world finals in Maryland, United States, in December.

Tatiana’s father, Kumar Nandha confirmed his daughter had been notified about the termination but insists she did nothing wrong.
